Canberra says unprecedented measures are needed to protect children from “predatory algorithms” filling phone screens with bullying, sex and violence.
In a 2020 research project, Meta scientists working with survey firm Nielsen found that "people who stopped using Facebook for a week reported lower feelings of depression, anxiety, loneliness and social comparison,” internal documents said.
